Getting Caught Up

School is back in session. I guess I’m one of those rare breeds of moms, because I’m not necessarily thrilled about having all the kids back in school. It’s not that I enjoy having my kids home with me all the time, but I don’t necessarily enjoy all the hassles of having to fight w/the kids to do their homework, go to bed on time, & the hassle of getting them up on time.

One of my dear friends emailed me & asked if everything was OK, because they hadn’t seen me on my blog for awhile. Yes, I’m OK, I’ve just been in some sort of knitting funk. I guess it’s something like writer’s block. The desire is there, but the creativity is lacking.

I have managed to knit a couple of dishcloths to use up some of my leftover cotton yarn. I DID finish my 3rd pair of socks! I bought this yarn several months ago thinking that it was the type of yarn that was the self-fair-isle kind, but it turned out to be the kind that was just stripes. I started & torn out these socks so many times, before I figured out what kind of pattern was calling to be done. (True knitters know what I mean by this.)

I ended up doing these in the basket-weave pattern on size 1 US needles. The yarn in by Online & it’s called Summer Breeze. The colors are wild. Not too sure what I’ll wear them with, but it’ll come to me.

I’ve also been trying to make a basic white cardigan for myself. I haven’t made anything for myself in a great while with the exception of socks! Maybe that 's why socks have been so gratifying for me lately. Back to the basic white cardigan…..well, not too basic. The sweater has been frogged so many times. It was probably due to my restlessness w/knitting & just not having the right idea of a sweater in mind. Well, I think that I found a pattern that I like & with help of my sweater wizard software, I think that I made some alterations to the original that I like. Stay tuned!

Baby Sweater & the Sweater Wheel

The kids cleaned out their dressers last week in order to get ready for back to school. Well, we came across a sweater that my mom had made for one of my kids when they were babies.

My mom really liked to create her own designs & this was before the day of computers & software. My mom had something called a “Sweater Wheel” that she used a lot. Somehow it has ended up at my house, but I have never taken the time to figure out how to use it. My mom sure could knit up all sorts of beautiful sweaters with it.
