In one of the groups, I kept seeing this baby cardigan pop up over and over again. (The one in White.)</span><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifjekdw_e7FhjlVq9lE2b7uhRR6ZWq8ZXXB-_e9HWpvJIS4K1GzGpV8R8y6Swv5xPUnVXYyrRQhJMLOSoZA70LMy5uXvNq1B4jQ5RMH8oWX4kc_oL6qW0vSv81IUYpKy1Q0r0fQA/s1600/KingCole+3115.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="817" data-original-width="570" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifjekdw_e7FhjlVq9lE2b7uhRR6ZWq8ZXXB-_e9HWpvJIS4K1GzGpV8R8y6Swv5xPUnVXYyrRQhJMLOSoZA70LMy5uXvNq1B4jQ5RMH8oWX4kc_oL6qW0vSv81IUYpKy1Q0r0fQA/s400/KingCole+3115.jpg" width="278" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">DK Comfort Cardigan by King Cole Ltd <br /><a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/dk-comfort-cardigan">https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/dk-comfort-cardigan</a></span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">So, I found the pattern online via Amazon and ordered it. Once it arrived in the mail, I discovered that it was knitted in pieces and assembled together. Then, I had a brainstorm, I found a very basic baby sweater that was knitted from the top down with very little seaming involved. I used that pattern and used stitch pattern of the King Cole pattern, which consist of several rows of St st., then working a row of P2tog, yo, etc.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil8KiqDEcnh1DYsKLwJu4x45T_ejS2gP03qbAPS3k6dNQkNkQKX6_MNm1056wupz2ABcJumVkJJmUQ02Qdz5GpdmkFcIHku-iXsNqF5NlzIWwU-Q4FZnsHXbdT-oGx8XxRAcrfFQ/s1600/CIMG1193.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil8KiqDEcnh1DYsKLwJu4x45T_ejS2gP03qbAPS3k6dNQkNkQKX6_MNm1056wupz2ABcJumVkJJmUQ02Qdz5GpdmkFcIHku-iXsNqF5NlzIWwU-Q4FZnsHXbdT-oGx8XxRAcrfFQ/s400/CIMG1193.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> It worked out very well. It was a quick and easy knit. I was able to knit it in about 3 days and the pattern stitch was so easy to memorize.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I found the yarn at Michaels, it's Loops & Threads Kai yarn, the color is "Puzzle". I was very curious about how it was going to knit up and it was about $3 a skein. The yarn is soft and I just love the way the colors flowed. I used size 6 needles. I'm looking forward to using more of this yarn in some different colors. I'm not sure what baby will receive this, but because of the pink in it, it's going to a baby girl.</span>Debhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05763567848465017941noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33448667.post-3561827167010110622018-12-01T23:30:00.000-05:002018-12-01T23:30:15.206-05:00Garter Yoke Baby Sweater in Rose<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I don't know about anyone else, but I seem to knit in batches of things. For awhile, all I knitted was afghans or baby blankets. Then, it was socks and more socks. Then, it was hats. Baby hats, adult hats, children's hats. Now, I'm knitting sweaters and lots of sweaters.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Let's face it, baby sweaters are so much fun to knit and so gratifying.Years ago, I purchased a really nice quality yarn from a LYS that has since gone out of business. I don't even remember what kind of yarn it was or the color. I think it was called "Rose Petal" or "Dusty Rose".</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I used this lovely yarn to knit the <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/garter-yoke-baby-cardi" target="_blank">garter yoke baby cardi by Jennifer Hoel</a>. (Free pattern on Raverly.) I wish I was more talented with the camera, because this really looks so much nicer in real life. I've been knitting for over 53 years and this is my first time doing an i-Cord bind-off. (Thank goodness for You Tube videos.) I like how it turned out.</span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Spinnerin's Very Young Fashions, I think I got the magazine for about $2, plus shipping.</span><br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">There's lots of very nice patterns in this magazine. It reminds me of the magazines that my Mum had back when I was a little girl. I'm so glad I purchased this magazine, because the patterns are all written for 3 different yarn weights. Group A: Sport Wt.,; Group B: Worsted Wt. and Group C: Bulky wt. yarn.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I knitted the helmet hat on the cover and I used Red Heart's Soft yarn in Charcoal, yarn that I had leftover from a cardigan. It was a quick and fun knit. It was knit all in one-piece. I used Size 7 needles, 2-Cirs. I made Child's size 3-4 yrs. (The pattern was for 2-6 years)</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I used Size 7 needles, 2-Cirs. to knit the cuffs. The Holly Leaves and Berries are crochet. I saw my cousin at Thanksgiving Dinner and she was more than glad to crochet them for me.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I think that my young adult daughter will enjoy wearing them this Holiday Season.</span><br />

I finally found a seamless sweater pattern that I just love!<br />
<a href="https://www.blogger.com/goog_1508525159"><br /></a>
<a href="https://www.willowyarns.com/product/hopscotch+cardi+free+download.do">https://www.willowyarns.com/product/hopscotch+cardi+free+download.do</a> <br />
<br />
I love this seamless sweater pattern! I've knitted it 3 times, in 3 different sizes. The first one was the all gray one, (charcoal) & I worked pattern as written, made a size 8 for my 4 1/2 YO grandson, who wears a size 6 right now, so he has growing room.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpr7RijRZUwkQG6dq2XvZGKRIrnSMAiJEXKtwrY6rbH9hDUW9vKZoaxeHZ3hnpJcsgPPWPc_BjXeq1x_BmdVDpJRq4Bckng_bqVp3ZJWH7dnRmXBxHM8aRgcv666ni0Ubse22b3w/s1600/CIMG1122.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1543" data-original-width="1600" height="385" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpr7RijRZUwkQG6dq2XvZGKRIrnSMAiJEXKtwrY6rbH9hDUW9vKZoaxeHZ3hnpJcsgPPWPc_BjXeq1x_BmdVDpJRq4Bckng_bqVp3ZJWH7dnRmXBxHM8aRgcv666ni0Ubse22b3w/s400/CIMG1122.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The brown and gray cardi is a Size 2, was made for for my 12-mon. grandson, who wears 12-18-mons. clothes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGLL_hbxcdzhB7ZjP4Vf_aP1TfgCEPnn7pxuiAmKpiYqZMPpe-1qB-wSkLhyGeh9iur12Xn9i6pWUvO8xYfLQNRrOKg1dtQ-Xep6QXKqoDlQYw17Jwd1Vq8KBU-fgBcLIU4LIUIg/s1600/CIMG1130.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGLL_hbxcdzhB7ZjP4Vf_aP1TfgCEPnn7pxuiAmKpiYqZMPpe-1qB-wSkLhyGeh9iur12Xn9i6pWUvO8xYfLQNRrOKg1dtQ-Xep6QXKqoDlQYw17Jwd1Vq8KBU-fgBcLIU4LIUIg/s400/CIMG1130.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And, the variegated sweater, (in Bohemian), is a size 10, I made for my 6 YO granddaughter who wears a Girl's size 7. I went down 1 need size (size 8 needle, because the yarn felt too drapey on size 9's). Her sweater is just slightly big on her now. The other sweaters have lots of growing room.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6KhxBBkF3INnEVtoCz1RFkqmWixcYPfMKWudepFdIfq_QJWpXvMBIij81ED3PY6qxOTzD2BSsJM9zu7bDWOi3-uU7ZdMXTUp1TWxxwMiMJHL29Coe0YaNWejx62SWtuiv61BlGA/s1600/CIMG1125.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6KhxBBkF3INnEVtoCz1RFkqmWixcYPfMKWudepFdIfq_QJWpXvMBIij81ED3PY6qxOTzD2BSsJM9zu7bDWOi3-uU7ZdMXTUp1TWxxwMiMJHL29Coe0YaNWejx62SWtuiv61BlGA/s400/CIMG1125.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Also, I made several modifications on the sweater for my granddaughter. Instead of picking up sts. for the the neck and button bands; I CO an additional 8 sts. (4sts each side for the button bands) and after doing the CO sts., I knitted 5 rows of garter st. for the neck before proceeding to do the increases. <br />
<br />
Other modifications: For the increase rows, I did all increases of 8 sts. instead of "inc. 8 sts., then inc. 10 sts." as written in the pattern.<br />
<br />
I did Garter St instead of Seed St. for the trim.<br />
<br />
Each sweater took me approx. 7-10 days to knit.Debhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05763567848465017941noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33448667.post-19854292493502160472018-06-19T13:40:00.000-04:002018-06-19T13:40:19.058-04:00A Couple of Little KnitsI had this yarn for a little while, Berroco DK Comfort Yarn and I couldn't wait to knit with it.<br />
<br />

</tbody></table>
I had knitted my new granddaughter a couple of sweaters, in sizes 3-6-mons. and 12-mons, but she's such a petite little thing that she's swimming in those sweaters.<br />
<br />
She's a summer babe, but she's surrounded by air conditioning and sometimes gets chilled.<br />
<br />
So, I knitted up this little newborn sweater.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSEX9fG3xYSxT_HZhCXiNEjODG_w26_W6Mk3aFNeAvFECNE9LuBK1vYf60RHmHh9ske_9ow414bJS7Ml9eKj1T1mfOn6LQDhpxHIObIEqeZ4gwCqAEddlsr9jzbAiJbsphexOkYA/s1600/CIMG1100.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSEX9fG3xYSxT_HZhCXiNEjODG_w26_W6Mk3aFNeAvFECNE9LuBK1vYf60RHmHh9ske_9ow414bJS7Ml9eKj1T1mfOn6LQDhpxHIObIEqeZ4gwCqAEddlsr9jzbAiJbsphexOkYA/s400/CIMG1100.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
It's another top down pattern, but when searching Ravelry, I had better success finding patterns by searching "seamless sweaters".<br />
<br />
The pattern is Little Avery by Taiga Hilliard Designs<br /><br /><a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/little-avery">https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/little-avery</a><br />
<br />
I decided to just knit it all in St. st. and let the Sprinkles in the yarn be the design. I didn't work the original texture of the pattern.<br />
<br />
I used size 6 needles and almost 1 skein of yarn (50 grams.)<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLJlJxgjz2FPLzrzRFpbMZUMxCpp8lzkUhzcZcd4Auy9FbhnQ-q76PRGxXEA596nbhY1zu4PSmCZz37mSMlGvVaHdRy6ilty5zAoUlhhaS9t-nFsjsTWkzZSwFnn7_ZEDm2EdJpg/s1600/CIMG1096.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLJlJxgjz2FPLzrzRFpbMZUMxCpp8lzkUhzcZcd4Auy9FbhnQ-q76PRGxXEA596nbhY1zu4PSmCZz37mSMlGvVaHdRy6ilty5zAoUlhhaS9t-nFsjsTWkzZSwFnn7_ZEDm2EdJpg/s400/CIMG1096.JPG" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I played yarn chicken and won!</td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
The pattern was easy enough, but if I knit this again, I would work a different buttonhole placement. (The 2nd buttonhole placement is too close to the 1st.)<br />
<br />
Before I started another project, I knitted myself a couple of coasters to use on my new computer desk that was custom built by my son. (He's the dad of the new baby.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTDa7oWpQ3wBEx_erpuxRtIyzMs3JNY4z1U2A9QA9liwK3-OXvywb4n6Lnp-iLSqxJ2NR7cPtD4JWW4N0xWmfyTIbrgJVot_DbmxPZyNkW8RcKI4BtaTeZZVIHIvXZvhQDSkcNPw/s1600/CIMG1103.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTDa7oWpQ3wBEx_erpuxRtIyzMs3JNY4z1U2A9QA9liwK3-OXvywb4n6Lnp-iLSqxJ2NR7cPtD4JWW4N0xWmfyTIbrgJVot_DbmxPZyNkW8RcKI4BtaTeZZVIHIvXZvhQDSkcNPw/s320/CIMG1103.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
<br />
<br />
The yarn has been in my stash forever. It was gifted to me and it has since been discontinued.<br />

<br />
I'm stuck. I'm stuck on knitting sweaters. I prefer to knit sweaters from the top down with very little seaming involved. I can usually find tons of patterns for top down sweater patterns for infants and toddlers, but it's been a challenge for me to find Top Down patterns for children 4 years and older.<br />
<br />
Well, I find such a pattern! It's free, too! <b style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #4b3c29; font-family: "Quattrocento Sans", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14.399999618530273px; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: bold; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: auto; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: auto; word-spacing: 0px;">Size:</b><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #4b3c29; display: inline !important; float: none; font-family: "Quattrocento Sans", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14.399999618530273px; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: auto; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: auto; word-spacing: 0px;"><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>6-12 mos (12-18 mos, 2 yrs, 4 yrs, 6 yrs, 8 yrs, 10 yrs)<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span><br style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #4b3c29; font-family: "Quattrocento Sans", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14.399999618530273px; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: auto; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: auto; word-spacing: 0px;" /><span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; color: #4b3c29; display: inline !important; float: none; font-family: "Quattrocento Sans", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14.399999618530273px; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: auto; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: auto; word-spacing: 0px;">Chest: 20 (22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32)" [51 (56, 61, 66, 71, 76, 81)cm]<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span><br />

I used Red Heart Soft yarn in Charcoal. Size 8 yrs. Size 9 needles. I didn't feel like fooling around with different colored yarns for the stripes.<br />

Again...I need buttons. I made this for my 4 YO grandson who's wearing a 5/6 right now and growing like a weed.<br />
<br />
I also made the same sweater in size 2 yrs. for my 11-mon. grandson.<br />

I used the leftover Red Heart Soft yarn in Charcoal & some leftover Red Heart Soft yarn in Chocolate. (Buttons needed.)<br />
<br />
My granddaughter has out grown the lavender sweater that I made for her last yr. So, she's picked out this yarn for her new sweater. This will be fun to knit!<br />

<br />
One day while looking in the living closet for a knitting bag, (yes, I have several.....er....too many with WIPs.) I came across this Tractor pullover that I had started over 2 years ago. I don't know why I had put it aside, because all it needed was 1-inch of work on the last sleeve and all the seams sewn up. It took me about an hr. It's now too small for the original recipient. 😕<br />

She has lots of growing room. The sweater is 3-6-mons. size. Her Mom & Dad brought her home in the sweater, because our weather had turned unseasonably cold for June weather.<br />
I did not make the blanket. I think that came from Target. Debhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05763567848465017941noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33448667.post-91890524403297795002018-05-17T16:48:00.002-04:002018-05-17T16:48:46.314-04:00My Fair Isle Hat (Selbu Modern)Since I've gotten the baby sweaters off the knitting needles, I was in need of something else to knit. I went through my yarn stash looking for some inspiration when I came across a small brown paper bag with "Natural Stitches" stamped on it. Well, the yarn store, Natural Stitches has long shut it doors for good 😢, but I had some yarn and a works in progress (WIP's) on the needles.<br />
<br />
Good thing that I kept or took good notes, I'm old-school, I still use pen and paper when knitting. I was able to figure our right away where I had left off on my project and resume knitting. (I had all the ribbing completed and the first 10 rounds of the chart done.)<br />
<br />
Here's the Selbu Modern hat. (Free Pattern!)<br />
<br />Webs: <a href="https://www.yarn.com/products/kelbourne-woolens-selbu-modern-free?gclid=Cj0KCQjw0PTXBRCGARIsAKNYfG10t7YLqpCyKVhwmTktP1-HmGn32Vx3C5MfkVtzlYFzKwHr_ps4ws8aAnAlEALw_wcB" target="_blank"> https://www.yarn.com/products/kelbourne-woolens-selbu-modern-free?gclid=Cj0KCQjw0PTXBRCGARIsAKNYfG10t7YLqpCyKVhwmTktP1-HmGn32Vx3C5MfkVtzlYFzKwHr_ps4ws8aAnAlEALw_wcB </a><br />
<br />
Ravelry: <a href="https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/selbu-modern" target="_blank"> https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/selbu-modern</a> <br />
<br />
Lots of tiny stitches. Size 1 and Size 2 needles. I used 16-in. circular needle until the number of sts was decreased, then I switched to DPN's for most of the crown of the hat.<br />
<br />
I used <b><a href="https://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/schachenmayr-baby-wool" target="_blank">Baby Wool by Schachenmayr</a> </b>(Fingering 100% Merino, 93 yards / 25 grams) in Cream and Light Gray. I love this yarn. I used 2 skeins of each color and it wasn't too pricey.<br />

This was such a fun knit and I'm glad I finished it. It's been on the needles since 2014, but I think that I put this project away, so that I could knit for the grand babies. Well, that's story and I'm sticking to it. LOL!<br />
<br />
Since the last time I had worked on this project, I've discovered a couple of tricks that made this so much easier to knit from a graph and faster knitting, too.<br />
<br />
First, I took screen shot of the graph (On a Mac: Command+Shift+4.) and I pasted it Word, then enlarged it and printed it. <br />
<br />
Second, I used an artist's or draftsman ruler to help keep track of my rows.<br />

I can't believe it's been 4 months since I last posted. Sorry about that, but I have been busy knitting.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Last Summer, I saw this top down vest in Mary Maxim's catalog and i just knew that i wanted to knit it up for myself. </span><br />

</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">What better way to celebrate a 33 lb weight loss than spending money on a yarn kit and knitting something for one's self? </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The kit came with 7 skeins of Aspen (Bulky) yarn, which was more than enough yarn to knit this medium sized vest. I think that I had 2 whole skeins leftover. If I were to knit this again for myself, I think that i would make it a few inches longer in the length. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I’m not sure, but I think that there is an error in the beg. of the
pattern where is says: “Now beg. shaping Raglan Armholes & Front
Neck as follows: Row1: (right side) K1, M1R (front neck), k1, <b>yo,PM, k2, yo-INC made</b>”</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">
</span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">When following through on the pattern; I didn’t have the correct “set-up” stitches.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">
</span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">So, I had figure out my own “Set-Up Row” as follows:<br />5, PM. 10, PM, 31, PM, 10, PM, 5 = 61 sts. needed to continue the sweater & continuing the increases as written.</span><br />

Just a basic pattern.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Size 8 needles, CO 66 sts. 3x3 ribbing for 6", the start decreases for crown.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi66ZneiqevMuArmCmUvPTupATQRqXP7nGBQJ9A9o-DYQbcVTd_e7mwYicLhr9Z5dQN5ev7agcuUJN2C2W0xb7YahV5Dx0ovj3CCwwsF6Vd4XCxvT7AcDZ3bjfn84mnoqv9n0EZ_g/s1600/CIMG0566.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi66ZneiqevMuArmCmUvPTupATQRqXP7nGBQJ9A9o-DYQbcVTd_e7mwYicLhr9Z5dQN5ev7agcuUJN2C2W0xb7YahV5Dx0ovj3CCwwsF6Vd4XCxvT7AcDZ3bjfn84mnoqv9n0EZ_g/s400/CIMG0566.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> Do you see the camouflage cap in the upper-right? Well, my daughter took it for her 3 1/2-mon. old son. Then, her 3 1/2 YO son wanted a cap just like it.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">So, I used size 7 needles (magic loop method) and I CO 72 sts. I did 4" of 2x2 ribbing for cuff, then I knit 7" in stockinette, before starting decreases for the crown.</span><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I knitted a Pumpkin Hat....just for fun. This pattern was my inspiration: <a href="http://www.knittingonthenet.com/patterns/holpumpkinhat.htm" target="_blank">http://www.knittingonthenet.com/patterns/holpumpkinhat.htm </a>, but I tweaked it to make it a little bigger and to make it fit better.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I used size 8 interchangeable for magic loop method and I CO 72 sts. (Multi of 9 for pattern.) (Pattern K8, P1 for pumpkin effect.) I also did a 4" 2x2 ribbing for a cuff, which provides lots of growing room. I did the "pumpkin pattern" for 7", then worked decreases for the crown. I used Red Heart Soft yarn in Tangerine. I made the stem by knitting an i-Cord in brown.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I used this pattern for the leaf: <a href="https://www.studioknitsf.com/how-to-knit-a-leaf-thanksgiving-diy-for-beginningknitters/" target="_blank"> https://www.studioknitsf.com/how-to-knit-a-leaf-thanksgiving-diy-for-beginningknitters/</a> But, I knitted the leaf in garter stitch, the center stitch was purled. The garter st. prevented the leaf from curling on the edges.</span><br />

I don't know what it is, but sometimes when I start a new project....I go like wild fire working on it and then I fizzle out and get bored and have to cast on another project with a quickness.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Sometimes a little project is just what I need. A good friend of mine had a birthday while I was out of town, but I sent her a card, so that she would know that I didn't forget her day. When I got back home, I went out and got her a gift card, but I also wanted to give her something a little more personal. So, I made her a cable gift card cozy/sweater.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">It was a free pattern: <a href="http://www.simplynotable.com/2011/gift-card-igans/">http://www.simplynotable.com/2011/gift-card-igans/</a> and it was fun, quick knit. I used some Lily's Sugar n Cream Cotton Yarn from my stash in her favorite color green.</span><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> My friend loved the gift card cozy.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Next, I have a daughter and another friend that collect owls and when I saw this dishcloth on a dishcloth group's site, I had to get busy. As much as I've been enjoying knitting it, I was starting to get a little bored with it.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">So, I decided to go to an old fall back project. I knitted a couple of dishcloths.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The first is a free pattern called: <i><b>Lily Sugar ’N Cream Celtic Cables Dishcloth</b></i><br /><br /><a href="http://www.yarnspirations.com/patterns/celtic-cables-dishcloth.html">http://www.yarnspirations.com/patterns/celtic-cables-dishcloth.html</a></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">It was a fun and easy knit. I used size 7 needles and Lily Sugar ’N Cream Holiday Prints.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHvakp0pluJq5dPjfErL9P8zald1P0la_tJoo55pLPpkL_i83IegiLHJBdMBtPjWUOs4nuudXP-Rxm-P45_O_nMllycxh9JBdaY8Lz96xLw2AcXMfexxVEzWS1oasmOD0ApCjsuw/s1600/CIMG0830.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHvakp0pluJq5dPjfErL9P8zald1P0la_tJoo55pLPpkL_i83IegiLHJBdMBtPjWUOs4nuudXP-Rxm-P45_O_nMllycxh9JBdaY8Lz96xLw2AcXMfexxVEzWS1oasmOD0ApCjsuw/s400/CIMG0830.JPG" width="400" /></a></span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The other dishcloth is one that I created on my own. I call it, <i><b>Easy Peasy Knit and Purl Squares</b></i>. (Mindless knitting.)</span><br />
<br />

<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>

I was real excited to try those newest yarn cakes...the big ones that's supposed to make it easier and simpler to knit an afghan or something without all the hassle of cutting off yarn and dealing with weaving in all those ends.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Yesterday , I CO for a baby blanket, well, right within the first few yards of the new skein....the yarn that I was using to cast on....a factory knot. OK. Snip. Start over casting on. Knit 1 row. Middle of second row, another factory knot. 😞 </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">All in all, I found a total of 6 factory knots in 1 skein. I realize that sometimes this in unavoidable, but.....6???</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I unwound the entire skein and snipped out the portions that had the knots and re-wound into a skein that is functional....I hope. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">This is what I was dealing with: </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgruRXlmSNs79Jy_DYCdMSV7njTM1fH6RfPBPKUTvB4GqoX4TNZGRCf7hyphenhyphenq9_-lJmwF5GJDxeHtzvV8leoy_x-jtn2RF_3mkypcASymHWruwDEIXXor0k3btTp-6sWcxCNhmJxDHA/s1600/CIMG0792.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgruRXlmSNs79Jy_DYCdMSV7njTM1fH6RfPBPKUTvB4GqoX4TNZGRCf7hyphenhyphenq9_-lJmwF5GJDxeHtzvV8leoy_x-jtn2RF_3mkypcASymHWruwDEIXXor0k3btTp-6sWcxCNhmJxDHA/s400/CIMG0792.JPG" width="400" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Now, I'm really torn, do I proceed with the other skeins? Or do I ship the remaining unused yarn for a refund or a credit?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I contacted Mary Maxim via email and they replied promptly and offered to replace the defective yarn if I so chose. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Last summer, I decided to eat healthier and to eat smaller portions. I just wasn't comfortable in my own skin and I was so tired of my clothes not fitting properly and just the thought of buying clothes in the next size up was so depressing.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I've lost 33 lbs. and I now can knit something for myself in a smaller size...less yarn to buy! Woot! Woot!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">This is why I need to finish my current WIP.</span><br />

When I was growing up, I really didn't have that many options for inspirations for knitting. If and when my Mum and I got out to the Murphy's or Woolworth's or a Mccrory's, then we got to look through some knitting magazines or free knitting leaflets that were in the store with yarn. My Mum also got a lot her ideas from her many years of subscribing to Workbasket Magazine.</span><br />

I had a skein of Vanna's Choice Yarn in Neapolitan. I bought it on a whim, but I had no idea what to do with it, and a had some left over yarn of Vanna's Choice in Dusty Rose. It was a fun and easy knit. I thinking about ordering some ice cream cone buttons for it OR just using White for Vanilla, Pink for Strawberry & a brown button for Chocolate.</div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">And, I also made a "Kiwi" baby sweater for a new grand baby that was due in July, but we didn't know the gender at the time. (Our new grandson finally arrived July 16th.)</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Well, I made the awful mistake of having something for my oldest grandchild and something for a new grand baby, but I didn't have anything for the middle grandchild. Needless to say, he was not a happy camper and he had a major meltdown that I didn't have a sweater for him. He was so distraught that he wanted me to drop everything that I was doing, (we were celebrating at a birthday party), and get my knitting needles and cast on right then & there! I felt awful.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So, I didn't want to waste any time and I wanted a quick knit, so I knitted him a vest. My grandson has a thing for vest. Since he's growing so fast, this seemed like a very good idea. He won't have to worry about the sleeves becoming too short.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I knitted the largest size and I used size 7 needles for the ribbing and size 8 needles for the body of the sweater. I also knitted the front and the back of the vest simultaneously on their own needles, this way I was sure to get a matching length. The yarn was from my ever growing stash. Loops and Threads Impeccable in "Soft Taupe". The yarn isn't very soft, but I'm trying to use up some of my stash. Don't worry, I have a nice soft yarn coming in the mail for a cardigan or a hoodie for the same grandson.</span></div>

Then came the wonderful and crazy world of the Internet. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I discovered Dishcloths patterns and cotton yarns such as Lily's Sugar and Cream and Pisgah's Peaches & Creme.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Dishcloths have been my go-to-project when I "just need to knit" and when I'm in-between projects, or when I just need to take a break from one of my current WIPs.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Currently, I working on a cardigan for my young grandson, it's all stockinette, which is nice, but it can get boring. I'm also working on a shawl and I like it a lot, but sometimes, I just need to take a break and cast on something that I can start and finish in a day or two.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So, I give you these two dishcloths:</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
