Pink Diamonds Baby Blanket

Some friends from church had a baby girl that was born 3 1/2-mons. prematurely.  She's due to come home to her Mom & Dad soon.

I knitted a little pink crib blanket for her.

This is the true color of the pink.

The pattern is from 60 Quick Baby Blankets: Cute & Cuddly Knits in 220 Superwash® and 128 Superwash® from Cascade Yarns (60 Quick Knits Collection) Page 92.

The original pattern is called "Blue Diamonds", but since I was making it for a baby girl, I call it "Pink Diamonds".

I used Bernat's Softee Baby yarn in Baby Pink and US size 7 needles.  The pattern was pretty straight forward and easy.  The only thing that I would do differently with the pattern is; I would 3 more stitches on each end for the knitted border.  After I finished knitting the blanket, the the pattern said to pick up and knit some hundred stitches on each side then knit 3 rows.  What a pain.  I liked this pattern a lot and I think it's perfect for sparing little fingers and toes from getting caught in it.

I had enough yarn left over to knit a matching baby cap.

Good-Bye Bobby........

Oct. 1942-Dec. 7, 2013

You were always my big brother.  The teaser, the protector, the cook.  I remember weekends when I was real little.  Mom & Dad both worked on the weekends.  My sister watched & took care of me on Saturdays & you took care of me on Sundays.

Sunday mornings always started with "Dippy" eggs & bacon cooked in a cast-iron skillet & toast.  Then. we'd looked at the Sunday comics together.

Summer weekends were spent at Kennywood, back when I liked the roller coasters.  (Now, you can't pay me to ride those things.)  You loved to scare me to death on the Ferris wheel by shaking it real hard when we were waiting or stuck at the top.

You were the "cool" guy in the neighborhood.  You had your hair slicked backed with Brylcreem and a pack of Pall Mall's in your shirt pocket.  You were always on the go and when I asked where you were going, you'd say, "Crazy.  Want to come along?"

Everyone little boy you met was, "George".  That was just your thing.

Then, one Spring day you got married.  Your bride was so pretty that I thought that you had married a princess.  And, I remember the day that your princess came over to the house to make & decorate Christmas cookies with me.  I had to stand on a chair to play with cookie dough on the counter.  I'll always remember "painting" the colored icing on the cookies & putting sprinkles on those cookies!

The family reunions & the family gathering will not be the same without you.  Your laughter, your wicked sense of humor.  Some called you Robert, most called you Bob, but you'll forever be Bobby to me.

Till we meet again...........

Blue Baby Watchcap

I've made a lot of these baby watchcaps.  They're fun & they're so easy to knit.

I made a light blue watchcap for a friend's grandson.

I use Caron's Simply Soft & US size 8 needle, using the Magic Loop method.
