28th Anniversary!

I just got home from having dinner out with some dear friends. We went out for steak dinners to celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary. The years sure went quick. Sorry, no photos, even though I did take my camera. The restaurant was rather busy & crowded, so I didn't get any photos, but we sure did have a lovely time.

New Needles and a New Book

I'm back from having a great time with a family reunion out in the country. Too much food and too little time. Last weekend went by too quickly.

A couple weeks ago, I posted about getting Socks from the Toe Up by Wendy D. Johnson from my public library. I love Wendy's patterns and I think that I finally figured out a way to knit the toes, so they look nice to me. I also went out and bought US size 0 Addi Turbo Cirs. The woman at my LYS had asked if I had ever tried the new Addi Lace needles? I hadn't and I was a bit skeptical about trying them, because I had read through other knitting pages that the Lace needles had a coating on them so that the stitches wouldn't fall off. I had also read that this coating wasn't exactly conducive for sock knitting. But, the woman didn't have to twist my arm very much to convince me that I should give them a try.

I really like them! I bought 1 regular Addi and 1 Lace. The points are nice and sharp and I didn't have any problems with the coating on the Lace needles.

I didn't finish the sock from the toe-up book before having to return it back to the library, but I like it enough to purchase it one of these days.

When I got back from the family reunion, I discovered that the library had another knitting book waiting for me.

Sock Innovation by Cookie A. Lots of fancy stuff in here. I choose a very basic, but fun pattern from this book.

I'm using Panda Cotton yarn, I think that's it's called "Tweed", but I'll have to go and find the label.

Yes. I'm using bamboo DPNs! Just because.

An update on my foot since surgery. It's still swollen. I have to wear Velcro sandals, so that I can adjust the fit. A family member says that it's going to take a good couple of months before the swelling goes down. If I were to enter a contest against Fred Flintstone for fat feet....I'd win...hands down...err...feet down!
