A Solution for SSS (Second Sock Syndrome)

Hey! I have a solution for SSS (Second Sock Syndrome)! Get a cast put on your foot, then you only have need for 1 sock.

I'm coming along great in my recovery from bunion surgery. I had a check-up on the 11th & they removed the original dressing.

And....they gave me this...........

A purple cast. I had my choice of colors & I picked purple, because it's my youngest DD favorite. I'm still not allowed to bear weight or walk on it yet, so.....I sit & knit. Lucky me! Recuperation = Knitting vacation.

I finished a Tidal Wave sock for me. I've knitted these socks before, but they have been gifted. I really enjoy the pattern. There are 12 rows to the pattern. Six rows are just knit & 6 rows are pattern.

A lot of people have been asking about my progress & I've been doing great! They gave me a script for pain-killers, which I didn't bother to fill, because I don't do very well with them as they make me ill to my stomach. So, all I've had to take was an occasional OTC Acetaminophen. Friends & family & church family have been wonderfully supportive with prayers & meals & helping out as needed. My pain level as been nothing compared to what it was before surgery.

Now....back to my knitting! Should I CO for the 2nd sock? Or should I move on to another sock pattern? Hmm....decisions....decisions.

A Day of Knitting & A Movie

Well, I finally came out of my bedroom or as my DS likes to call it the "dungeon" yesterday. My new cousin by marriage, came over yesterday for a visit. Since my bunion surgery on June 1st, I've remained upstairs in the bedroom, so that I could be comfortable & have access to the BR. It's been OK up there, I had a cordless phone, stereo & TV/DVD player w/remote, and my knitting, of course. Thank goodness my Hubby let me use his laptop or I probably would have gone a bit stir-crazy.

My cousin is a crocheter & I'm a knitter, but B. didn't bring her crochet yesterday, she brought over her Knifty KnitterTM Loom. It's pretty neat, it's sort of like a giant knitting spool. It looks like it would be a great stash user-upper! You use 2-strands of yarn at a time to knit & she's making lots of hats for charity.

We also watched the DVD The Phantom of the Opera. Now, I must admit that this would probably not have been a movie that I would have selected myself, because I'm just not into opera, but I'm up for new things & I really love being with this relative! Let me tell you, I really enjoyed this movie! The drama & the costumes & settings were fantastic! And, we got a lot of knitting accomplished! I have a sock almost done & B. finished 2 hats!

It was a wonderful day all around. It was good to eat to with family instead of all myself in my room & it was good to be out of the dudgeon. I know my kids enjoyed seeing their mom up & about....sort of.

Recuperation-A Knitting Vacation?

I'm still in bed recuperating from foot surgery to alleviate a painful bunion. I had visions of getting a lot of knitting accomplished. Sigh. This has proved not to be the case. I'm finding it difficult to get comfortable enough to knit while propped up in bed with my foot elevated.

I also found that my concentration isn't up to par either. I tried working on the February Lady Sweater, but I keep losing track of all the increases & the markers. Well, the good news is, my cousin is visiting tomorrow for a day of movies & knitting for me & crocheting for her.

I did manage to work several rounds of a sock today. Sock-knitting has become my "comfort knitting."

I also want to thank my dear Hubby for letting me have the use of his laptop, so that I can still stay in touch w/all my on-line friends!
