Knitting and Ripping Out

I finished one of the Cauchy socks from Cookie A's book, Sock Innovation last week while waiting in the doctor's office. Then, I promptly CO for the second sock and I was making great progress when I discovered that I didn't like the way my pick up stitches looked. Opps. I tried to frog back to the heel flap, but I didn't have have too much success. I ended up ripping out the entire 2nd sock and started over. I really love this pattern and this yarn, so I really don't mind. Sock #1 turned out very nice and I love the fit, so I want it's mate to look and feel just as good.

I had another doctor's appt. earlier this week and my PCP asked how my foot was healing from the surgery? I showed him my "ankle stabilizer" and I told him that I think that the foot was going to take a while to heal. Now, my hips are bothering me with lots of spasms that are making it very difficult to walk or stand for even short periods of time, etc. Well, my PCP decided to give me an injection of a muscle relaxant and a mild pain reliever. It's been like night and day! I'm not 100% pain free, but it's close enough. I'm able to sleep deeply and I'm able to walk comfortably. As a result of the this new found freedom, I haven't been able to get back to knitting. I've been too busy running around with my hubby doing errands and getting a lot of the household shopping done. I did a bit of knitting last night and I discovered that one of my bamboo DPNs is warped. What's up with that? If I were to show it to my mom, she would say, "Well, that's about as straight as a dog's hind leg." All of my cirs that I use for socks are a little bent as well, but I didn't think that bamboo needles would do the same thing.

I want to get these socks done, so that I can work on a baby gift for a future new family member.

Deb,
That is why I do 2 socks at once on 2 circular needles. I hated doing the second sock on 5 DP needles .Always dropping stitches ...
I ordered Mary Ann Beatties toes up book and loved it. http://www.queenkahuna-creations.com/you can go there and see some about it.

You can google toes up socks on circular needles and find lots of good videos showing you how to do it,
I would never go back to one sock on DP needles again nor cuff down either,
If your needles are bent means you are knitting too tight with your stitches.
I know cause I've been there LOl
Hows the foot doing ?
i go back for my last check up on my ingrown toe nails dr.cut out next week.
take care

So happy to hear you have some relief from that pain.

I don't do socks, but when doing sleeves, I do both at once. It may take longer, but when you get to the end, there is no "oh, I have one more to do".

Wow! Love the autumn look of your blog.

I'll have to check out that pattern in my book as I've knitted nothing from it yet.

So glad you are feeling better. It's been a long time in coming and glad your PCP took the time to make sure you are feeling your best.
