An Enabler of Socks

I thought that it was bad enough that I had a collection of more knitting patterns than I would ever get around to doing in my life time, THEN, I discovered SOCKS!

I will never be able to knit all the wonder socks that I see. Which brings me to Beth J's.Blog . If you haven't checked out her socks yet....have a look. It's hard to believe that she's a beginner at socks. I love her socks & I love her colors, too! (It's the new crayon thing again!)

Beth includes the links to her socks, too! Thanks a lot. I'm going to need a separate notebook just for my sock patterns!

2 Patterns Into 1- Wrist Warmer

As many of you know, I sustained some serious burns to my hands over the Christmas holidays & I had to have skin graft surgery. I'm healing very nicely, thank you very much! Anyway, it's going to be a slow process & I have been fitted w/a therapeutic glove that I must wear for about a year to promote the healing process & to minimize scarring. I have 2 of these gloves & I wear one & wash the other.

Well, to spare them from getting so dirty while just doing everyday things around the house, I tried wearing a protective plastic glove or a rubber glove. This proved to be to cumbersome, then, I came up w/the idea of the fingerless-glove or a wrist warmer to wear over the therapeutic glove while I was doing things about the house!

I found this Pattern: Cozy Hand/Wrist Warmers

I really liked the Spiral Rib pattern & I plan on knitting a pr. of socks w/it one of these days. However, I didn't like how the this pattern was worked for the opening for the thumb, so I used the 6-stitch button hole pattern from this pattern:

This is the result.

I made the length about 6-in., instead of 4-in., & I did this via the Magic Loop method. It went pretty quickly, because it was only 32 sts. I was skeptical of only 32 sts., but it works, because the spiral rib lends a lot of stretch. The yarn by the way was from my stash. I got years ago at Murphy's 5 & 10. It's called Super Soft.
