I’ve been busy working on my second set of socks. I thought that I was making progress, but I guess that I got over confident. First, I had trouble with holes where my pick up sts are for the gusset. I seemed to have gotten that resolved after receiving a lot of help from my on-line friends. So, I ripped out a whole bunch. I discovered that I really dislike ripping out k2, p2, ribbing. Grr......
My new sock wizard software got me into trouble. I used the software and I saw something called a "dutch heel", so I thought that I would give it a try. Well, it looked funny, but I thought it was just because I was used to the "round heel" instead. So, I kept knitting away. I got done with all the decreases....on with knitting in the round for the bottom of the foot and the toes. I kept looking at the dutch heel. Hmm... I tried on the sock....guess what? I didn't like the dutch heel, so I ripped out again. (Thanks Mom....for turning me into a perfectionist when it comes to knitting.) I'm going back to knitting a round heel.
Other ramblings: Now...I'm really going to give away my age here, but anybody remember columnist Erma Bombeck? She was my mom's favorite. I don't remember too much about Bombeck except, for 2 of her sayings:
"If life is a bowl of cherries...what am I doing in the pits?"
And...this is the one that I'm living right now: "God must have a sense of humor, why else would He have raising teenagers coincide with going through the change???"
Yeah....real funny. NOT!
I'm going to show my age again...remember when the phase "knocked up" was a vulgar term? Now, I haven't seen the movie by that name, it might be OK, but geesh.....couldn't they have come up with a better title? And...the previews....it makes it hard for me to explain things to my youngest DD who just turned 11...a very curious age.
Well, I took a little break to do my blog...guess I can go back to my socks. Stay tuned....
